Chicago Officer Shot by Pellet Gun Friday[UPDATE]

DEVELOPING: The officer was taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital

Update, 12:12 a.m. -- A Chicago police officer working a vice operation was shot with a pellet gun Friday evening, according to Police News Affairs.

Officer Hector Alfaro said the officer was working a vice operation in the 0-100 block of North Cicero Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

"He sustained a non life-threatening injury," Alfaro said. "He was taken to a nearby hospital."

No other injuries were reported. 

Original story -- A Chicago Police officer was reportedly wounded on the West Side before 11 p.m. Friday. The officer was taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital, according to Chicago Police News Affairs. The officer sustained a non life-threatening injury. Initial reports that the officer was shot were not correct.

News Affairs did not know whether the injured officer was on duty at the time.
