Update: One Man is Dead After Shooting at Blackthorn Pub in Mount Greenwood Sunday
Witnesses say an altercation took place inside the bar; an off-duty police officer intervened, shooting and killing a gunman.
One man is dead after a shooting inside Blackthorn Pub Sunday night. An off-duty Chicago Police sergeant shot to death a man who opened fire on another man during a fight inside the bar at about 6:30 p.m. Police News Affairs released a statement that said the off-duty sergeant drew his weapon, announced that he was a police officer and ordered the gunman to drop his weapon. The gunman did not and was shot, the Chicago Tribune reports. The other man involved in the fight suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
