Cops Warn of Armed Robberies in East Beverly
The robbers either displayed a handgun or pretended to have one, police said.

Robbers held up residents in two reported street robberies that occurred a week apart in the east Beverly area.
Morgan Park 22nd District police said the robbers targeted men who were walking alone. The robbers either displayed a handgun or pretended to have one by placing their hand in their sweatshirt.
The first robbery happened in the 1800 block of West 100th Street on Feb. 25; the second on the 1700 block on West 104th Street on March 1.

Both robberies occurred in the evening between 8 and 11:30 p.m.
The offenders were described to police and African-American males in their late teens, about 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing 160 pounts. One had dreadlocks, and both were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Police said they were armed with a silver revolver-style handgun.
