'Dangerous' Morgan Park Home Demolished
Falling bricks called for an emergency demolition of a home on Edmaire Street in Morgan Park, alderman says.

CHICAGO, IL -- A long-vacant home in the city's Morgan Park neighborhood that was described by 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea as having been "dangerous" was demolished recently by the city of Chicago's building department after an emergency demolition order was made.
O'Shea said in an email to ward residents on Friday that the home at 2005 W. Edmaire St. has "long been in disrepair" and that recently the bricks and roof of the structure began to collapse, creating a "significant public safety issue."
"Vacant homes like these can attract drug and gang activity and destabilize otherwise strong communities," O'Shea said of the structure that stood just east of Longwood Drive in Morgan Park.
