Finals Set In 'Event Of The Year' Showdown
A neighborhood softball tournament takes down Goliath, as a Mother's Day tradition coasts to the championship round.

CHICAGO — Our "Event of the Year" bracket-style tournament seeking to find residents' favorite yearly tradition in Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park has taken an unexpected turn. The South Side Irish Parade, the obvious No. 1 seed and prohibitive favorite, is out. And even before the championship round begins.
The No. 5 seed Papa Hops 16'' Softball Tournament is the event that pulled off the unthinkable upset. Organizers of this event sure do know a lot about brackets, and they shared this poll in great numbers to get to where they find themselves now: the championship round. Papa Hops will face off against No. 3 seed Beverly Breast Cancer Walk in the championship, of which voting will take place this upcoming Monday and Tuesday.
In the semifinals, Papa Hops took down the parade by a margin of 60% to 40%, with 592 votes cast on Twitter.
