Firehouse Subs, a fast-casual sandwich restaurant, has scheduled the grand opening of its Stony Creek Promenade location on June 1.
The restaurant at 11008 South Cicero Ave. will offer steaming sandwiches with fresh meat and produce that’s sliced daily, a Coke Freestyle machine and more than 50 complementary sauces.
Ron Magnabosco, franchise owner and Tinley Park resident, said Firehouse Subs boasts a special relationship with communities through its Public Safety Foundation, which has donated more than $13 million to first responders and hometown heroes.

“This is not just a themed restaurant,” Magnabosco said. “It was founded by firefighters.”
Magnabosco said he’s already begun connecting with the Oak Lawn Fire Department. He said local first responders, police and firemen are invited to an advance preview VIP night before the grand opening.

He said Oak Lawn is a good fit for Firehouse Subs because of the redevelopment at Stony Creek Promenade, and the business has a good opportunity to give back to Oak Lawn the community.
Magnabosco said construction on the location passed the halfway point about a week ago, and crews are putting on the finishing touches.
The restaurant’s interior will look like the inside of a firehouse, with framed photographs that celebrate local firefighting history. This location will employ about 20 people.
The Firehouse Subs franchise was founded in 1994 by former firefighting brothers Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen in Jacksonville, Florida, according to the Firehouse Subs website. There are now more than 750 locations.
