Former SXU Building Demolished, Police Credit Union Going Up

Demolition of a building between 103rd/104th and Pulaski is complete, paving the way for the relocation of the Chicago Police Credit Union.

CHICAGO, IL - The south branch of the Chicago Police Credit Union will move into a larger space and its own building soon in Mount Greenwood.

Demolition, which began last week, is completed on a long-standing building in between 103rd and 104th streets on Pulaski. The building at one point had been used as classrooms by Saint Xavier University.

"It hasn't been used in some time for educational purposes," said 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea, who said the space will be used to construct a new building for the Chicago Police Credit Union.

The credit union's south branch currently operates in a multi-business retail development just east of the cemetery in the 2700 block of West 111th Street in West Beverly. When the new building is ready, O'Shea says the credit union will leave the current space.

O'Shea says these plans for the credit union to relocate to 103rd and Pulaski have been in the works for well over a year. The new structure could be built as early as this fall.
