Fr. Pfleger: 'Time for the Church to Break the Code of Silence'

St. Sabina priest asks for churches across the city to come outside their buildings on May 1 and "pray for peace."

The Rev. Michael Pfleger is calling for pastors and parishioners to come out of their buildings this Sunday during or after services and pray for peace.

Lamenting the city’s weekend toll of killed and wounded, Fr. Pfleger, senior pastor at St. Sabina in the city’s Auburn Gresham, said it was “time for the Church to break the code of silence.”

“6 KILLED [39] WOUNDED THIS LAST WEEKEND.....and all we're talking about is Trump and the NFL Draft...To all those coming for the Draft..... ‘WELCOME TO CHICAGO WHERE MURDER HAS BECOME ACCEPTABLE …,” the fiery priest posted on his Facebook page.
