'Get Behind The Vest' Breakfast Is Feb. 18 At St. John Fisher
A pancake breakfast will raise money for an organization that replaces bullet proof vests for Chicago police officers.

CHICAGO, IL - 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea is hosting another pancake breakfast to raise money for the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation's "Get Behind the Vest" initiative. O'Shea has partnered with The Original Pancake House - Beverly and other sponsors to hold the event at St. John Fisher School from 8 a.m. until noon on Sunday, Feb. 18 this year.
"Get Behind the Vest" actively raises funds to replace bullet proof vests for Chicago police officers. Since O'Shea began hosting the annual pancake breakfast in 2015, residents of Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park have raised nearly $80,000 for the initiative. Last year's event generated about $26,000 in donations.
“This event is so important to police officers and their families, as it helps to ensure that the safety of officers and that they will return home to their families at the end of each shift,” O’Shea said. “It is amazing how this event has grown over the past four years, and we hope to raise even more money this year. Through the tremendous support of the community, schools, and local businesses such as Original Pancake House – Beverly and Kean Gas Station, we want to help in protecting those who protect us.”

O'Shea also plans to work with local schools to organize dress down days and other student fundraisers to help add to the total raised in 2018.
Admission to the breakfast is $5 per person or $25 for families. St. John Fisher School is located at 10200 S. Washtenaw Ave. in West Beverly.
