Hate the Cubs? Morgan Park Bar is Offering Free Beer for Every Cardinals Home Run
If you're a Sox fan, a Cubs hater or just like beer, McNally's in Morgan Park is offering free beer for every Cardinals home run.
The changeable letter sign outside the bar at 11136 S. Western Ave. advertised “Free Beer for Every Cardinal Home Run.”
Inside McNally’s, where patrons’ favorite teams are the White Sox and anyone who plays the North Side Cubs, these South Side Sox fans, or people who just want free beer, are praying for many Cardinals’ home runs and a quick NDLS sweep.

Technically, it’s illegal for taverns to distribute free beer, but a post on the bar’s Facebook page said the beer was being supplied by a St. Louis Cardinals’ fan, or sold at a minimum price.
So why do Sox fans hate the North Side Cubs so much? It may be not be the team as much as Cubs fans, which diehard Sox fans consider fickle, transient, more concerned with taking selfies than paying attention to the actual baseball game, bubble headed, twitty and spoiled unlike their gritty South Side counterparts.

Most of all, many Sox fans feel like their team has been overlooked by most of the Chicago news media. In 2005, when the White Sox ended their own 90-year drought by winning the World Series, it certainly appeared as if a lot of Chicago sportswriters, distracted by the North Side “loveable losers,” were playing catchup.
Either way, the Cubs have their work cut out for them with the St. Louis Cardinals, who sport the best record in baseball. Don’t forget it’s the Cubs. There are goats and black cats and Steve Bartman, but somehow, this 2015 club has a different vibe. Maybe it’s finally the Cubs’ turn to be the 1969 Mets.
