Help Wanted: One Morning-Midday TV News Co-Anchor

Here’s an opportunity you don’t see everyday. NBCUniversal’s Chicago affiliate, WMAQ-TV, took to its website to advertise for a morning-midday TV news anchor.

The successful job candidate will co-anchor the morning and midday newscasts. In addition to getting up really early in the morning, the lucky applicant will report and write news copy, edit video and other tasks as assigned by the local news department.

Basic qualifications are a minimum of three years covering news as a TV reporter and/or a news anchor, and a four-year college degree in journalism, communications or related broadcast field.

The desired candidate will also make appearances before social and civic groups, schools and colleges on behalf of the station, including some weekend days as needed, and be willing to submit to a background investigation. You also have to live in Chicago and join a union. The ad doesn’t say anything about taking a drug test.
