Jordan Lynch Scores Winning Touchdown in CFL's Grey Cup

The Mount Greenwood native's one-yard run lifted the Edmonton Eskimos to their 14th championship.

The football career of Mount Greenwood’s own Jordan Lynch notched another milestone Sunday night as the former St. Christina student and Mount Carmel star scored the go-ahead touchdown to win a championship.

It happened in Canada, and not for his beloved Chicago Bears who cut him last year, but a solid feat nonetheless.

Lynch scored on a one-yard quarterback keeper with 3:22 remaining in the game to lift the Edmonton Eskimos to a 26-20 Grey Cup win over the Ottawa Redblacks. The title was the 14th for the Eskimos franchise in the Canadian Football League.

Lynch’s big score Sunday night came during a 20-degree wind chill, temperatures he has not been unfamiliar with developing his game with the Caravan and later at Northern Illinois University, where he threw for 51 touchdowns in four years and was a Heisman Trophy finalist his senior season.
