CHICAGO — Mercy Circle residents and members of the McAuley Science National Honors Society Clubl created prayer ornaments with heartfelt messages on ornaments they decorated and wrapped families who benefit from Pat’s Pantry.

Students at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School meet on the third Thursday of every month with their neighbors, residents of Mercy Circle, to complete a project as part of MACs with Mercy. This intergenerational program builds connections, starts new friendships and supports the community. This year MACs with Mercy is donating all of its projects to Pat’s Pantry.

Pat’s Pantry was established in 2021 by Kathy Cavallone-Turney to honor the memory of her son, Patrick Turney, who died in September 2019 at age 23. Because her son was passionate about his friends and neighbors in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood and beyond, Cavallone-Turney and her volunteers now provide groceries each week to close to three dozen families at the Mt. Greenwood Community Church.
