Man Dies In Police Custody In Brighton Park
Cops say burglary suspect was sweating and having a hard time breathing when they arrived on the scene.

A man died in police custody in Brighton Park on the Southwest Side early Monday morning, ABC 7 Chicago reported.
Police say they responded to a burglary in the 3000 block of South Pershing Road around 1:30 a.m. When the arrived on the scene, the accused burglar was sweating and had a hard time breathing.
Medical attention was immediately sought but paramedics could not save the man. According to police, the man became “unresponsive” and died at the scene, ABC 7 Chicago said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a death investigation.

In separate incident on Chicago’s North Side also early Monday morning, police shot a man who was allegedly beating another man on the ground with a baseball bat.
Chicago Police released a statement saying that officers feared for the life of the man being beaten. Police said that an officer discharged his weapon when the male attacker did not comply with commands to put the bat down.
Both men were taken to nearby hospitals.
