Man Killed In Beverly Drive-By Was Awaiting Trial In Oak Brook Mall Shooting
Tyran Williams, 34, was awaiting trial for the December 2021 Oak Brook Mall shooting when he was gunned down in a Beverly alley, reports say

CHICAGO — The 34-year-old man shot to death last week in Beverly was one of two men tied to an Oak Brook Mall shooting in Dec. 2021 that injured several people.
Tyran Williams was gunned down in an alley in the 1700 block of West 95th Street just before noon last Friday. A blue vehicle approached him when someone inside started firing. Williams was struck multiple times and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The shooting briefly placed nearby Vanderpoel Humanities Academy on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) shared with residents that Williams had a criminal history.

At the time of his death, Williams was on electronic monitoring and facing aggravated discharge of firearm charges for the Dec. 23, 2021 shooting at Oak Brook Shopping Center, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin told Patch in an email.
Oak Brook police believed that Williams and another man charged in the mall shooting, Steve Lane, were in a verbal altercation when they began shooting at each other. Four innocent bystanders were shot, and Willams himself had been shot four times. Bail was set Dec. 29, 2021 at $1 million each for Williams and Lane, Berlin said.

The next day Williams was able to post a $100,000 bond. He was released with a GPS monitor and ordered to stay home as a condition of bond, except for meetings with attorneys and religious services.
In March 2022, Berlin said over the prosecutor’s objection, Dupage County Judge John Kinsella further expanded Williams’ movement outside his home between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., including work, medical appointments and religious services.
The judge further modified Williams’ conditions the following June, allowing him to be away from home from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Berlin said probation and court services were notified the day of Williams’ death. Williams next court date was scheduled for May 29.
“Once we have a copy of the death certificate we will ask the judge to enter an order of “death suggested, cause abated,” and the case will be dismissed,” Berlin said.
Williams was apparently outside in the alley behind his restaurant, Gusto’s Kitchen, 1767 W. 95th St. when he was gunned down in what the alderman said was a “targeted” shooting. O’Shea told WGN that gunfire struck the school.
