A car struck the law enforcement officer, who sustained a head injury, on the 8600 block of Kedzie then sped away.

A DEA agent was intentionally run down by a grey car Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of a gas station in the 8600 block of Kedzie Avenue, prompting a manhunt involving several police agencies. The lawman suffered a severe head injury and broken leg and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The driver of the car abandoned the vehicle at 7300 South Oakley Avenue.
The driver was later apprehended at an area hospital, according to a release by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, after he and another person sought treatment for gunshot wounds.
Witnesses told the Chicago Sun-Times they saw a black SUV pull over the grey car at the station, then heard squealing tires and “four to six gunshots.” Witnesses saw a body by the gas pumps. Police responded to a call of shots fired at 12:50 p.m.
