Marist, Br. Rice Boys Soccer Teams Will Dedicate Pulaski Cup to 9-11 Victims

Marist and Br. High School will honor military and first responders during game on Sunday, Sept. 11.

CHICAGO, IL -- The Marist and Brother Rice boys’ soccer teams will mark the fifteenth anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks by competing for the Pulaski Cup on Sunday, Sept. 11. The game starts at 4 p.m. and will be held in Marist High School’s Red and White Stadium.

Players and coaches from teams plan to honor the more 3,000 victims who died to terrorism Sept. 11, 2001. Brother Rice and Marist teams will start the day by attending a 10 a.m. mass together at St. Christina Church, 3342 W. 111th St., Chicago. Family, friends and community members are invited to join the teams in prayer.

At the game, Marist plans to honor all military and first responders in attendance and community members are also welcome and encouraged to attend. Other plans are in the works to make the game a special event that is both dignified and fun.

“This is a great way for our team to give back to the members of the community to do so much for all of us,” said Marist’s head soccer coach Sean Maxwell. “It also reminds our students that as great as competing is, community holds even more importance.”

During the 2015 season, Marist advanced to the sections. The RedHawks are excited to start another season in the competitive East Suburban Catholic Conference. Marist High School is located at 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago.
