Marist Hires New Head Cheerleading Coach

Amber Weber's accomplishments include a sectional championship and fifth place state finish.

Marist High School cheerleading has a new coach.

Amber Weber was hired recently as the head cheerleading coach for the 2015-2016 school year.

Weber comes to Marist after coaching at high schools and junior high schools in Illinois and Washington, and most recently, Plainfield East High School. She is excited to take over for the RedHawks.

“It is an honor to be welcomed into such a wonderful program and prestigious school,” Weber said. “I am excited at the opportunity and look forward to positively impacting the student athletes in all aspects of their development.”

Marist’s program has garnered great success including a sectional championship, a fifth place state finish, and several competition wins within the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). The program also won a state title in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association before it was an IHSA sport.

“We are excited to have Amber onboard,” Lim said. “Her experience and commitment are going to help this program continue to flourish.”

Weber describes herself as a hands-on coach who will work to “motivate, inspire, and help the student-athletes reach their full potential.” She has already met with current members of the team and parents, and is looking forward to the season ahead.
