Marist Offers Parenting Empowerment Workshops For Raising Teens

Marist High School offers parenting workshops based on bestselling book '7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens,' starting Oct. 11.

CHICAGO, IL — Marist High School's Guidance Department will host the first of a series of three workshops for parents and community members aimed at empowering parents to foster respect, responsibility, resilience, and self-reliance in their children.

The theme of the 2018-2019 workshop series is based on Sean Covey's bestseller The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. Each workshop will feature one to two habits interwoven with practical parenting strategies.

The first session will take place on Thursday, October 11 at 7 p.m. in the Marist RedHawk Theater, and will highlight the first two habits of the book. The workshop will give parents practical, hands-on strategies designed to set their teen on the path to responsible adulthood by learning how to balance ever-increasing freedom with personal responsibility.

The second session is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. The final session will take place on Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m. Details on each will be posted as they near. The series is open to the public. Attendees are asked to register in advance on the Marist website and enter at the main office at the west end of the campus, 4200 West 115th Street in Chicago.
