Marist Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

CHICAGO, IL -- Seven Marist High School seniors will continue their academic and athletic careers at the college level. The seniors participated in a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony last week in the school’s RedHawk Theater. The students represent the Palos Heights, Oak Lawn, Thornton and Evergreen Park communities.

The volleyball program had three student-athletes participate. Setter Molly Murrihy (Palos Heights) will attend and play for the University of Memphis. Savannah Thompson (Thornton), an outside hitter, will head to Central Michigan University. Grace Green (Oak Lawn), a defensive specialist, will attend and play for Radford University in Virginia. All three were crucial leaders in the team’s 2017 state championship season.

Baseball players Jack Anderson (Palos Heights), an outfielder, and pitcher Jason Trbovic (Oak Lawn) will attend Kenyon College of Ohio and Loras College in Iowa, respectively.

Two softball team members also signed. Centerfielder Kara Apato (Oak Lawn) will play for Northern Illinois University, while Maggie Kehoe (Evergreen Park), an infielder, will join the Western Michigan University team. Both girls were instrumental in Marist’s 2015 state championship.

More commitments are expected as the school year continues. Marist is a member of the competitive East Suburban Catholic Conference and its athletes and teams regularly garner success at the local and state levels.
