Marist Will Take Disciplinary Action Over Student's Racially Charged Tweet
Student sends racist tweet in response to police-involved shooting in Mt. Greenwood.

CHICAGO, IL — Marist High School responded to a student’s racially charged tweet sent out in the wake of Saturday’s police involved shooting of an African- American man in Mt. Greenwood.
“I [EXPLETIVE DELETED] HATE [EXPLETIVE DELETED].” One of her friends then replied, "same," DNAInfo reported.
Marist officials said in a statement on the school’s website that they were “devastated by the situation” when they were made aware of the racially charged post Sunday evening. The tweet had been shared by an activist.

"Disciplinary action is being taken. Marist is a diverse community, made better and stronger by that diversity. As a school community, we continually work so that each student feels welcome, valued, and safe.
"We have been and will continue to engage with diverse student leaders to give a voice to all students and to focus on shared values.
"Given the tenuous times we all are living in, and recent events nearby Marist High School, our mission to make Jesus known and loved is more pertinent than ever. As always, the safety of our students is of utmost importance."
Marist High School took a beating on Twitter. One user tweeted to principal, Larry Tucker: "Remove these racist students from the student body NOW."
