McAuley Names New Recruitment and Admissions Director

Sixth, seventh and eighth-grade girls will soon see a new face lighting the path to becoming a McAuley girl.

CHICAGO, IL -- Sixth, seventh and eighth-grade girls will soon see a new face lighting the path to becoming a McAuley girl. Alumna Sara Phillips McGann has joined Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School as director of recruitment and admissions, effective Nov. 1. McGann has been tasked with supporting the short- and long-term goals identified in the school’s strategic long range plan.

In her role, McGann will design and implement a comprehensive strategic plan of recruitment and admissions of new students to the school. She will direct the admissions process from point of inquiry through enrollment. Additionally, she will plan and supervise recruitment activities and events.

“I am honored to take on this new role at Mother McAuley and help prospective young women recognize the potential of a McAuley education, which benefitted me socially, spiritually and professionally,” McGann said in a news release. “Many of the strongest and most successful women I know are graduates of McAuley and that is no coincidence.”

McGann comes to McAuley from Chicago’s Department of Streets and Sanitation Department where she was the director of public affairs. She managed public outreach, media relations and crisis communications for the department. Prior to that, McGann was an assistant state’s attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney Office, where she prosecuted criminal cases and served as an appellate advocate.

“McAuley girls are taught to think critically and communicate effectively, and as an alumna herself, I know Sara will infuse her work with these same skills,” said Carey Temple Harrington, a 1986 McAuley graduate and the vice president for institutional advancement. “As we embrace the next generation of young women and make them future ready, I know Sara will channel excitement into our efforts to attract students who view McAuley as a place that will help them to become their very best selves and the most desirable candidates for colleges and ultimately, employers.”
