McAuley Senior Maeve O'Rourke Named National Merit Finalist
Beverly girl recognized as a student in the top 15 of seniors nationwide.

Maeve O’Rourke, a senior at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, has been named a finalist in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. In each annual program, approximately 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only 15,000 of them are named finalists.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Maeve O’Rourke’s accomplishment of being recognized as a student in the top 15 of seniors nationwide as a National Merit Finalist,” principal Ms. Eileen Boyce ’03 stated. “With the strong educational foundation built as a graduate of St. John Fisher, Maeve flourished in the challenging academic environment at Mother McAuley.”
The Beverly student has not shied from participating in some of the many extra-curricular opportunities at McAuley. She is a Student Ambassador and a member of the cross country team, the Math Macs team, the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and the Catherine McAuley Honors Scholars program, which recognizes superior academic achievement.

“I’m very grateful to have been chosen as a National Merit Finalist,” Maeve said. “It’s an exciting time as I get ready for college, and now this recognition is a great reminder that hard work pays off.”
Maeve will be notified in March if she has been selected as one of 7,400 Merit Scholarship winners.
