McAuley State Volleyball Champs Take Victory Lap Down 99th Street

Mighty Macs celebrate 15th state volleyball championship title with parade through Evergreen Park and Mt. Greenwood.

CHICAGO, IL -- McAuley Liberal Arts High School’’s 2016 State Volleyball Champs took a victory lap down 99th Street Thursday morning. The Mighty Macs’ bus was escorted by the Evergreen Park Police and Fire Departments amid a cheering throng that lined both sides of 99th Street.

Faculty, staff, administrators, students and fans waited outside the the high school where to greet the champs as they stepped off the bus, including Mighty Mac super fan Sr. Maura. Hoisting their state trophy, team members posed for photos with family and fans.

The team defeated Minooka on Saturday to bring home the school’s 15th volleyball championship title. The Mighty Macs conquered Minnoka in three sets (25-19, 19-25, 25-19) to capture the Class 4A state title match last Saturday.
