Mighty Macs Eye State After Winning Volleyball Super-Sectional
Mother McAuley will face Edwardsville in IHSA Class 4A girls volleyball semi-final Friday. Winner will play for state championship.
CHICAGO — Mother McAuley beat Willowbrook High School 25-18 and 25-21 in a tough super-sectional Friday, advancing to the IHSA girls volleyball finals. The Mighty Macs are in the hunt for a 16th state championship ring in Bloomington this Friday.
Sophomore outside hitter Ellie White led McAuley (34-6) with twelve kills and seven digs, with Peyton Brokemond contributing 6 kills. Gigi Navarrete racked up 15 digs, Olivia Klapp had 10 and Sam Falk added eight.
Caroline Macander contributed 22 assists and eight digs. In the second game, McAuley clung to a 21-20 lead, but went on a 4-1 run, blocking a final Willowbrook kill attempt.

McAuley is ranked number one in the state. The Mighty Macs will meet the 8th ranked Edwardsville High School in the Class 4A semifinal in Illinois State University’s Redbird Arena, 702 W. College Ave., Normal. The game starts at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12. Masks will remain required for all indoor sports as long as the governor's mask mandate is in place.
The winner of the semi-final will move on to the Class 4A state championship scheduled to start approximately 8:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.

The losers of the semi-final will play for third and fourth place at approximately 7:25 p.m. Satuday. Stream the games live on IHSA.
