Mount Carmel Faces Providence Catholic in Playoff Showdown

Mount Carmel will face Providence Catholic next week in a Class 7A quarterfinal playoff game after handily defeating Lincoln-Way East Saturday afternoon. The Caravan beat the Griffins 20-7 and sacked the Griffins QB eight times. “For us to hold them to one score, that’s really a total team effort,” coach Frank Lenti told the Chicago Tribune.
LW East and Mount Carmel have played each other twice before, in 2006 and 2008. The outcome now in all three meetings has been the same — a Caravan victory.
