CHICAGO — A senior at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago has scored a 36 on the ACT. Aiden Rodgers recently got word of his earning of the top score possible on the national test, a Mount Carmel spokesman said. The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science, each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.

Rodgers is the son of Dr. Michael Rodgers, who helps lead the STEM program, robotics team and teaches computer science at Mount Carmel, the school said.

It's a rare feat to score a 36, as approximately two-tenths of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn the top score.

“Your achievement on the ACT is significant and rare," ACT CEO Marten Roorda said in a letter to Rodgers. "Your exceptional scores will provide any college or university with ample evidence of your readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.”

Mount Carmel Principal Scott Tabernacki said the school is “so proud of Aiden."
