O'Shea Endorsed By CFL, FOP In 19th Ward Re-Election Bid
The incumbent 19th Ward alderman has received multiple endorsements in his bid for another term on the Chicago City Council.

CHICAGO – Incumbent 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea has received the endorsement of both the Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge 7 and the Chicago Federation of Labor in his bid for a third term as the Chicago City Council representative for residents of the city's Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park neighborhoods. O'Shea's re-election campaign announced the endorsements in a pair news releases last month.
"I am honored and humbled to be endorsed by FOP Lodge 7 in my reelection as Alderman of the 19th Ward,” O’Shea said. “The job of being a police officer is incredibly challenging and our officer’s need the support of the community and elected officials. I will continue to support our police officers, and to help the Chicago Police Department to provide officers the resources they need."

“I am honored to once again be endorsed by the CFL and look forward to continuing to work with them on the issues facing labor unions and workers,” the alderman said of the CFL endorsement. “The communities of Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood are home to thousands of labor families, and the hardworking men and women of organized labor are integral to the entire city. In my next four years as Alderman, I will continue to fight for the union labor in my community and throughout the city.”
The Fraternal Order of Police represents thousands of active and retired officers of the Chicago Police Department. O’Shea sits on the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation Advisory Board and the Chicago Police Chaplains Ministry Board of Directors.

The Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL) is the central labor body and the umbrella organization for Chicago and Cook County’s labor unions. The CFL represents over 300 Chicago area unions, and has more than 500,000 members.
This week, O'Shea also received the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune newspaper.
O'Shea, the 19th Ward alderman since 2011, filed his petitions to run for a third term on Nov. 28. At that time, David Dewar of Mount Greenwood had also filed petitions to challenge O'Shea in the Feb. 26, 2019 election.
