Over 14,000 Join Beverly Breast Cancer Walk
A little rain and cold didn't stop thousands of walkers from joining the fight against breast cancer in Mother's Day neighborhood walk.
Rain didn’t stop the more than 14,000 men, women and children from stepping off for the 16th annual Beverly Breast Cancer Walk.
Walkers joined together to embark on the three-mile route through the historic Beverly Hills and Morgan Park neighborhood on a chilly, rainy Mother’s Day to support Little Company of Mary’s nationally accredited and award winning Comprehensive Breast Health Center.
The family-centered, historic Mother’s Day walk began with three pioneering women -- Carol Moriarty, Nancy Mulcahy and Lisa O’Brien -- who believed in fighting breast cancer one step at a time on the one of the most memorable days of the year, said Brian Lepacek, MDiv, executive director of the LCMH Foundation.

“Fast-forward 16 years later, three walkers grew to more than 14,000 supporters that all have joined in the fight against breast cancer taking one step at a time,” Lepacek said in a news release.
Almost three decades ago, Carol Moriarty, one of the three original Beverly Breast Cancer Walk founders, found herself at Little Company of Mary’s Comprehensive Breast Health Center receiving treatments to aid in her battle with breast cancer. After a successful plan of treatments, Carol found herself cancer-free and with a new profound vision for life.
