Thursday Last Day To Take Survey To Win $1.5M Grant For Park 581

Help Park 581 in Beverly win a $1.5 million grant in the Chicago Works Community Challenge by taking a survey. Deadline is Nov. 11.

CHICAGO — Park 581 is in line to receive a $1.5 million grant in the Chicago Works Community Challenge for the Far South region. The greenspace at 11625 S. Oakley Ave. is a finalist in the region for public space improvements.

Recently, the Park 581 Park Advisory Committee (PAC) presented its proposal for major green space improvements including a new walking path, enhanced lighting, outdoor exercise equipment and more to the selection committee. Right now, Park 581 is in the running with two other Far South District semi-finalists (a public school and a public library) to win the $1.5 million grant.

The winner will be selected in December, a project must demonstrate community support. The committee is now collecting community feedback on which project residents support most.

The survey takes two minutes to complete. Please fill out the survey to support support Park 581 in the 19th Ward by clicking here before the Nov. 11 deadline at 5 p.m. Only complete the survey if you are a resident, business-owner or property owner in the Far South region of the city.

The next PAC board meeting will be at the Kennedy Park Field House, 11320 S. Western Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11th at 6:30 p.m. Residents are invited. Face masks are required.
