Paroled Felon Handed Six-Year Sentence After Pleading Guilty to Burglary Charges
South Side man was arrested in August after after cops said he burglarized two homes in Morgan Park while on parole.

CHICAGO, IL -- A convicted felon was handed a six-year sentence after pleading guilty to two residential burglaries in Morgan Park while he was out on parole.
Joshua Wilkins, 37, was arrested Aug. 23, after he was tied to two burglaries in the 11700 block of South Prospect and the 2500 block of 117th Place. Wilkins had been previously convicted of residential burglary in 2013 and sentenced to six years. He was paroled on April 28, 2016 after serving three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ald. Matt O’Shea announced that Wilkins had copped a plea. He was sentenced to six years in a Cook County courtroom on Oct. 3.

“Currently, I am working with the Illinois Department of Corrections to ensure that Mr. Wilkins serves additional time for violating parole,” O’Shea said.
