Plumbers Local 130 Accepting 2017 Apprentice Applications

CHICAGO, IL -- If you’re a recent high school grad Plumbers Local 130 is accepting applications for its apprenticeship program. The application period runs from Jan. 24 to Feb. 23.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and provide a sealed high school diploma or college transcripts or GED certification. High school seniors who are 17 may also apply with a valid photo high school ID.

Applications must be dropped off in person at the Chicago and Joliet union halls from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, through Feb. 23 at:

Union plumbing apprentices start at approximately $16.40 per hour, with salary increases every six months. An apprenticeship lasts for five years. A journeyman plumber earns about $48.25 an hour, according to Local 130’s website. Chicago Plumbers Local 130 also sponsors Chicago’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
