Police: Man Charged in Crash That Killed Off-Duty Chicago Cop

Andres Quinones faces counts of aggravated DUI causing death and failure to stop in a fatal accident, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A Northwest Side man has been charged with driving drunk in a fatal crash that killed an off-duty Chicago police officer driving a motorcycle early Sunday morning in Forest View.

Andres Quinones, 33, faces counts of aggravated DUI causing death and failure to stop in a fatal accident, authorities said.

Quinones struck Officer Charles Barango after he ran a red light at about 2 a.m. on Central Avenue. Barango left the Stevenson Expressway and entered the intersection on a green light, police said.

Barango was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center.
