CHICAGO — Marc Ridgell, a recent Brother Rice High School graduate, has been selected as a 2019 Bank of America Student Leader. He's one of just five high school students in Chicago and 283 nationally to be selected for the honor this year.

The bank's student leader program connects community-minded high school juniors and seniors to employment, skills development and service opportunities according to a news release. As part of the program, Ridgell has secured a paid internship with the Valentine’s Boys & Girls Club of Chicago and just returned from a weeklong leadership summit in Washington D.C. with other student leaders from across the nation.

Ridgell has accumulated more than 300 volunteer honors in the past year alone. During a 2018 summer program with University of Chicago, he was named ‘Student of the Day’ by his peers for his presentation about at-risk black LGBTQ+ youth.
