Registration is open for Garden Center Services Super Sunny 5k benefiting adults with intellectual disabilities

Today, Garden Center Services announces the opening of registration for participates of Garden Center’s 3rd Annual Super Sunny 5k road race event. Runners and walkers can find event details and register at www.SuperSunny5k.com. The Super Sunny 5k will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. at Newcastle Park in Burbank, Illinois.

The Super Sunny 5k race is a community-wide event with neighbors coming out to cheer on the runners as they navigate the flat and fast course through the residential streets of Burbank, Illinois. New this year, runners and walkers in the Super Sunny 5k will be provided with real time race results. Results can be delivered to racers’ Smartphone devices within one minute after crossing the finish line.

Awards will be presented to male and female winners of each age category after the race, as well as the first, second, third place winners overall, with an additional award for the middle of the pack runner.

After the race, runners and spectators are encouraged to stay and cheer on the participants in Garden Center’s Walk ‘n Roll-a-thon. All participants are invited to a post-race barbecue party sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council #14553. Participants can look forward to great food, wonderful music and fun entertainment.

Registration for Garden Center Services’ Super Sunny 5k is $25. All proceeds from the event benefit the programs for adults with developmental disabilities at Garden Center Services. Racers are also encouraged to fundraise for Garden Center Services, and participants who raise $250 or more will receive a Super Sunny 5k hooded sweatshirt.
