Rescue Group Pleads for Safe Return of Stolen Pit Bull Puppy

Help bring "Yellow" home. He was stolen during a break-in at his foster home in Humboldt Park.

A Chicago rescue group is offering a reward for a pit bull puppy stolen from a Chicago home.

“Yellow,” a 9-week-old pit bull puppy was stolen Friday during a burglary at a home in Humboldt Park. He was one of several that were rescued from an alleged dog fighting ring, and was being cared for by a volunteer foster.

The rescue group “New Leash on Life” is offering a $1,100 dollar reward for Yellow’s safe return.

From the man who stole from me, You broke into my home on Friday. You went through my private belongings, my space where I have lived peacefully for many years. Along with my valuables you took from me many financially/aesthetically worthless items. Some of these came from family that has passed, some are things I’ve carried with me since I was 7 years old. How old are your children now?

....You can keep whatever you want, but please return the puppy. He isn’t mine, but for the last 5 weeks I have cared for him and his litter mates day and night. He wasn’t for sale, he wasn’t someone I brought in for profit, and he is the most priceless thing you took. I’ve put a bin and blanket in the yard you walked through to come in to my home. If you or someone who will help you can please put him in that box I will drop everything. I’ll still carry this with me but I won’t pursue you.

The volunteer warned that the suspect—who allegedly spoke with or was seen by some neighbors—left behind fingerprints in the home near California and Cortez streets.

We’re going to find you if you don’t bring Yellow home now. This is your chance to make right the wrong you did. Please bring him home unharmed.

Anyone with information on Yellow’s whereabouts is asked to contact Chicago New Leash on Life, at chicago@nlolchicago.org, or by phone at 330-717-6692.
