Rubber Duckie Derby Returns For 9th Year At Mt. Greenwood Park
The early fall tradition will again raise funds for the Mt. Greenwood Park Special Recreation Department.

CHICAGO – The Rubber Duckie Derby returns to Mt. Greenwood Park this weekend for the ninth year in a row as a fundraiser for the Mt. Greenwood Park Special Recreation Department, a Special Olympics Chicago program. Sponsored by the Advanced Eyecare Professionals in Oak Lawn, the early fall event has become an annual family tradition.
Here's how it works. People purchase a $5 rubber duckie at the event, scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Sept. 29, or at the AEP office in Oak Lawn before Friday, Sept. 28. Their ducks will be entered into a derby race beginning at noon Saturday, with the top two finishing ducks advancing to a final round showdown.
The family of the winning duck will be awarded an XBOX ONE.

The Mt. Greenwood Park event on Saturday, which will run until 2 p.m., will also feature face painting, jumpies and a petting zoo. Prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded throughout the day as well.
