Loop Capital CFO and Scientist join SXU Board
Saint Xavier University’s (SXU) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce it has elected Tasha Henderson, chief financial officer (CFO) for Loop Capital Markets, and Luis Nuñez, founder of both lasotek and BioTarget, to a three-year term as new members of SXU’s Board of Trustees.
Henderson joined Loop Capital over 16 years ago after working as a senior accountant for KPMG LLP in its financial services group. Loop Capital is a full-service investment bank, brokerage and advisory firm that provides creative capital solutions for corporate, governmental and institutional entities across the globe. As chief financial officer at Loop Capital, Henderson is responsible for oversight and management of accounting and financial reporting across each of the firm’s business units.
As manager of Loop Capital’s day-to-day administration, Henderson has and continues to display keen business acumen and exemplary leadership style while developing and implementing the firm’s infrastructural, administrative, and operational growth.

Additionally, she serves on the firm’s Management and Risk Committees. Henderson is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants, the Illinois Certified Public Accountants and the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. She holds Series 27 and 28 Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) licenses and is a certified public accountant who holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation. Henderson received a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Hampton University in 1996.
Luis Nuñez founded lasotek in 2012 with the main goal of developing commercial applications for detection of infectious diseases using non-linear optics methods. The company also develops fluorescence spectroscopy (a type of electromagnetic) and particle size determination using optical caustics. For six years starting in 2008, Nuñez founded and worked at LNK Chemsolutions developing a preclinical program for commercialization of hemostat bandage products based on novel nanofibers.

For over 18 years, Nuñez worked for Argonne National Laboratory in numerous roles – scientist, principal investigator, section head of Nanoscale Engineering and deputy associate laboratory director for Basic Science Programs. Nuñez conducted research on basic and applied material science, designed early engineering separation processes to treat radioactive waste, built a pilot-plant scale separation process, managed research and development programs totaling close to $250M and worked with over 1,500 employees. He also published over 100 scientific papers and reports and obtained nine patents.
Nuñez was appointed staff scientist by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in 2001 to serve for one year where he represented the U.S. in development of innovative research programs for energy solutions while also developing technical responses to the White House and DOE leadership. Nuñez received his Ph. D in philosophy and physical chemistry from Northern Illinois University in 1990 and his MBA from Northwestern University in 2005.
