Saint Xavier University's School of Education hosted Kappa Delta Pi Society Event

Welcomed Chicago Sun-Times reporter Maudlyne Ihejirika as guest speaker

Saint Xavier University’s (SXU) School of Education (SOE) hosted a Kappa Delta Pi Society (KDP) event that included Maudlyne Ihejirika, 25-year Chicago Sun-Times veteran reporter, as a special guest speaker. Ihejirika spoke on the education beat from the 1990’s to the present. She shared some important issues at the forefront today – charters vs. neighborhood schools, inequities in access/quality remaining for low-income minority students and the State’s skewed funding formula. Her insights on education inspired SXU students who learned of the best “I care” teachers Ihejirika has encountered through the years as well as student success stories that leave us hope. KDP is an international honor society in education that was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.
