Shooting Reported Outside Cook County Jail

Shooter reportedly drove away in SUV after leaving the courthouse.

Police are investigating reports of several shots fired outside the Cook County Jail near 2700 S. California Ave. in Chicago shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday. NBC’s Regina Waldroup is reporting via Twitter that witnesses say the shooter drove away in an SUV.

Chicago Police News Affairs reports that shots were fired from a gray SUV at two men who were walking in the 2600 block of South California. No one was struck and the vehicle sped away.

Additional sheriff’s deputies were stationed outside the courthouse.
