A modernization of Smith Village's Johanson Wing will convert double-occupancy rooms to private suites.

CHICAGO — It has been another active week for businesses in Beverly and Morgan Park. Here's a look at the latest news from local businesses.
Renovation Begins At Smith Village
Smith Village, 2320 W. 113th Pl. will begin construction in early November for a $22.3 million modernization project for its short-term stay rehab and skilled nursing care wing. New construction includes a three-story, 10,204 square-foot structure housing state-of-the-art therapy rooms on the first floor and dining rooms on the second and third floors, according to a news release. The retirement community will also reduce its total number of licensed beds in the Johanson Wing to 78 from 100 when it converts most double-occupancy rooms to private suites and rooms.
