St. Barnabas Offers Special Mass For Veterans This Sunday
"A Mass in Honor of All Military Service Men and Women, Past and Present," will be celebrated at St. Barnabas Church, Sunday, Nov. 13.
CHICAGO — A Mass in Honor of All Military Service Men and Women, Past and Present, will be celebrated at St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Drive at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13. The Mass will focus on peace among all nations and will honor and thank all members of the Armed Services, past and present, who have defended and continue to defend the United States.
The main celebrant and homilist will be Fr. Jim Donovan, pastor of St. Barnabas Parish.
Mass will begin acknowledging all branches of the Armed Services and inviting all veterans and current service men and women to join in the entrance procession. Each division will be led by their respective flag. In addition to the recognition given during the entrance procession, the names of those currently serving in the military will be read aloud. There will also be a special blessing for current service men and women, as well as all veterans. At the close of Mass there will be a musical tribute to the Armed Services sung by the St. Barnabas Choir.
