Suspect Charged In String Of Mt. Greenwood Burglaries

CHICAGO — A suspect in a series of burglaries in Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park is in police custody. Kwincy Johnson, 28, of the city's Englewood neighborhood faces numerous felonies in connection with the string of burglaries reported in August.

Charges against Johnson include three counts of attempted residential burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, two counts of burglary and one count of residential burglary, police said.

Johnson was arrested in the 1400 block of North Wood Street on Sept. 16 without incident. Police have connected him to a number of incidents in August in which a man was captured on surveillance video walking down residential alleys and sidewalks pulling the door handles to garages, residences, and cars before stealing items.

Incidents connected to this series of crimes were reported at 111th and St. Louis, 111th and Trumbull, 108th and Bell and the 2100 block of West 109th Street.

Johnson was to appear in bond court at 26th and California on Wednesday. Information on his bond hearing was not immediately available.
