Suspect Developed In Blue Island Shooting Case

BLUE ISLAND, IL — There's a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Blue Island man at the gas station at 119th and Western. Police won't say who it is and have not made an arrest, but say the investigation continues.

A Tuesday afternoon shooting outside the Shell gas station at 11901 S. Western Ave. claimed the life of 27-year-old Matthew Jones. The crime had nothing to do with the Shell business, Blue Island Police Chief Bernadine Rzab said. It is considered to be an isolated incident.

Rzab said a flyer circulating on social media — one that shows a person's face in connection with the case — shows a person who is "attempt to identify" only with police.
