SXU to Participate in Beverly Art Walk on October 7th

SXU Students Participate in Beverly Art Walk!

Chicago, IL: For a fourth consecutive year Saint Xavier University’s (SXU) Art and Design Department will be participating in the annual Beverly Art Walk. SXU students will be given the opportunity to showcase their art work to a larger part of the community. This year’s Beverly Art Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 7 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center Located at: 2407 West 111th Street Chicago, IL 60655. It is a free event and open to the public.

The recurring presence of SXU students at the Beverly Art Walk began in 2013, when Associate Professor Nathan Peck became the chair of the Art and Design Department. This year, faculty and students are planning to exhibit: a photo gallery, a painting studio, and a combined space for videos and performance. Peck believes that having diverse viewers is a great learning experience for the students, who have had limited exposure among their peers.

“Events like the Beverly Art Walk allow students opportunities to expand their audience and experience the difference of a real world, non-artist, multi-aged diverse audience with very different expectations,” said Peck.

Additionally, for a second year, Seniors Erin Kelly and Kolin Smith will be participating in the Beverly Art Walk. This year, Kelly is excited to see how people interact with the work they have made to showcase. Additionally, Smith will also bring out one of his dance group affiliates to perform at the event.

“I look forward to the creativity and vibes of the people interacting with the art,” said Smith.
