Taking Care Of Caregivers Focus Of Smith Village Support Group
Smith Village's monthly caregiver support group will address managing stress and anxiety for caregivers Tuesday, March 19.
CHICAGO — Caring for a loved one with dementia can be emotionally challenging – and draining. The monthly Caregivers Support Group at Smith Village, 2320 W. 113th Place, Chicago, will focus on ways to manage anxiety and stress, and where to access helpful resources. The group meets at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 19.
This support group provides a confidential, safe and supportive environment and aims to combat the isolation many caregivers experience. Meetings are planned for the third Tuesday of every month. The group will share options on how best to care for the caregiver.
“People with dementia often reflect the emotions of their caregivers,” says Alice Keane, group leader. “So, if a caregiver is anxious or impatient, a loved one will be as well. It is vital that caregivers have someone to help them manage their challenging role.”
