Underage Liquor Check In Blue Island: Who Passed And Who Failed?

Seven businesses in Blue Island failed an underage compliance check by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission this week.

BLUE ISLAND, IL - The Illinois Liquor Control Commission recruited underage students at high schools and colleges to randomly check businesses for compliance with underage liquor laws on Tuesday. While more than half of the 17 businesses checked passed, seven did not.

They were identified by the ILCC in a news release as Tuscan Grill, 13000 S. Western Ave.; La Vieja Castilla, 13023 Western Ave.; Super Mercado Imelda, 13036 Western Ave.; Giuseppe's, 13351 Olde Western Ave.; Esparza's Restaurant, 13337 Olde Western Ave.; Aranda's Liquor and Food, 13440 S. Western Ave. and Mario's Tacos, 13325 S. Western Ave. The Super Mercado Imelda had one prior violation, according to the ILCC.

Ten businesses passed the check. They were Hass Tavern, 12723 Western; Korbakes Liquors, 12747 S. Western Ave., Pub Time, 12924 S. Western Ave.; Demars Restaurant, 12941 Western Ave., Restaurant Tenochtitlan, 12947 S. Western Ave.; The Double Play, 13011 Western Ave.; Harry's Long Bar, 13115 S. Western; Island Sports Bar And Grill Inc., 13414 Olde Western Ave.; Natural Law Cocktail Club and Eatery, 13404 Olde Western Ave. and Rock Island Public House, 13328 Olde Western Ave.

Tuesday's check in Blue Island was part of an ongoing undercover operation in which students are recruited to randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars around the state to check for compliance in not selling liquor to anyone under 21.

Blue Island police assisted with the check.
