Vintage Garage Chicago brings the Midwest’s best vintage clothing & décor to a Broadway parking garage each month

CHICAGO (July 10, 2015) – More than 100 of the Midwest’s best vintage collectors & dealers will bring the dream of south seas and cuffed jeans to life at the July 19 edition of Vintage Garage Chicago (5051 N. Broadway, Chicago) featuring everything rockabilly and tiki. Shoppers are encouraged to show up dressed to the nines for the rockabilly Best Dressed awards, featuring prizes from Broadway Antique Mall, Fat Cat and other neighborhood favorites. The Vintage Garage Chicago is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Shoppers at the Vintage Garage Chicago can find everything from antiques to mid century and beyond - records, home décor, furniture, industrial items, vintage clothing, kitsch, jewelry and so much more. Rockabilly Tiki Takeover for July will showcase items from the 1950s and postwar America – think circle skirts, leather jackets, and a classic bright red lip. Rebel Without a Cause meets South Pacific.

“Great fashion is the hallmark of rockabilly & tiki style,” said Melissa Sands, Vintage Garage owner. “It’s incredible to see our shoppers so dedicated to classic vintage looks for our Best Dressed contests.”

Anyone in a rockabilly or tiki getup can enter the day’s Best Dressed contests between Noon and 2 p.m. – just have your photo taken at the front gate. Categories include Best Outfit, Best Female Outfit, Best Male Outfit and Best Couple. Renowned rockabilly expert Jennifer Greenburg, author of The Rockabillies and Revising History, will judge the looks, with special emphasis on originality, style and overall dedication.

Vintage Garage Chicago takes place the third Sunday of every month, April through October inside the parking garage at 5051 N. Broadway in Uptown. Public transit riders can take the Red Line to the Argyle stop, or the No. 36 North Broadway bus. The event is rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., $5 at the gate.
