Video Captures Uber Driver Beating Women With Snow Brush

An Uber driver shown in a YouTube video hitting two women with a snow brush is facing battery charges, police said.

The women ordered an Uber ride to pick them up in the 200 block of East Grand Avenue in Streeterville on Tuesday night. A driver identified as Wang arrived, but when he learned a third passenger had not yet shown up, words were exchanged and the driver left, Fox 32 Chicago reported.

Police said the driver returned a few minutes later and went after both woman, hitting them with a snow brush. The driver was taken into custody and charged with battery, the TV news station said.

The snow brush attack was captured on a “witness video” that shows a woman warding off the blows of the snow brush. The voice of an officer of the court is heard ordering the snow brush wielding attacker to stop, yelling, “I’M A LAWYER, WHO ARE YOU?”

The women tell the attorney to “call the police.”

According to Fox 32, police arrested Wang and charged him with two counts of battery and one count of criminal damage to property after one of the women reported damage to her cell phone.

Wang is due back in court on Jan. 15.

Uber has since issued a statement denouncing Wang’s alleged actions:

“This type of behavior is unacceptable and is not tolerated. As soon as we were aware of this incident, we immediately removed this driver’s access to Uber. We will provide any information to local law enforcement as needed for their investigation.”
