Women's Fest Debuts at Blue Island Beer Company with Special Guests
Saturday Night's signature gathering spotlights support of women through music, arts, culinary creations and song.

Local women will gather Saturday for “Women’s Fest” from 3 p.m. until 9 at the Blue Island Beer Company -- three days before election day – to signify their unified support of one another through music, arts, culinary creations and song.
“Women come together to support one another in smaller gatherings all the time,” said Kathy Figel, one of many event organizers. “We expect our turnout to be powerful and more than just supportive, but an empowerment. We have female musicians, vendors, chefs, artists all coming together in one space.”
Special guests include WXRT-93.1 DJ Emma Mac, who will emcee the affair. Entertainment will include performances by Beverly Phono Mart, The Bourbon Belts, Shannon Baker and Bridget Cavanaugh.

“We expect some folks to come to let out some of the stress from the last two and maybe getting some early holiday shopping done,” said Genna Doherty, co-owner of new Blue Island B*U*B Café, opening in February 2023. “The layout of the Blue Island Bear Company lends itself to comfort, interaction, relaxation and fun. Think South Side cool, not church bazaar.”
There will be an area for healing and wellness advice. Schedules will be posted for group yoga, movement and other services vendors provide on-site.

Hosts Edna White Community Garden, B*U*B Café and The Bloom Bar have earmarked proceeds from the event to provide college tuition monies for female students planning to study the Arts or Social Sciences, and to the Edna White Community Garden.
Female students from Morgan Park High School will benefit through the Criu De Sheela Scholarship program, while Edna White Community Garden will use resources to help maintain and provide programming.
“Supporting women and coming together just before an important election will bring like-minded folks together, while also supporting Morgan Park High School students and Edna White Community Garden’s future,” said Bloom Bar owner Erin Cox, The Bloom Bar.
